Wedding Gift for my Friend

I'm pretty sure this is safe to post here, since my friend is the Groom and I seriously doubt he is here checking out my scrapping blog. So here we go. This wedding is unique to me, in that, the Bride & Groom sent out their gift request in their invitation. Attendees are requested to give their favorite bottle of wine to the couple. Tags for the gift givers name were included. How neat is that?

The Mini Album, I made and posted here earlier. It is based on the "Love" Chapter in the Bible - I Corinthians 13. Close ups can be seen here. I used one of the wine carriers we received as a gift, at our wedding, and recovered it to match the mini album. Finally, I made a coordinating card to go with the gift theme. I used the Basic Grey Wisteria Paper Kit.

I marbled purple cardstock for the top of the wine carrier. This is pretty easy to do. I used 3 colors of Distress Ink (Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Walnut Stain) and 1 colored Prisma Pencil. I started with the lightest color Distress Ink and swirled it on the paper with a makeup sponge. Next I dabbed on the other two colors sporadically with a makeup sponge and then used a clear part of the sponge to blend them slightly. Next, I took a pale purple colored Prisma pencil and drew in my marbeling lines. A blending stick can soften the harsh edges. I love this effect and just wish my dear husband would let me do our house walls!!

Below is a close up of the coordinating card. In keeping with the wedding theme, I paper pieced a wine barrel, wine glass, wine bottle and red grapes, of course.

It's a bit hard to see here in the picture, but I added Glossy Accents to the wine bottle, glass and grapes for an epoxied effect.

Limited Edition Kit - MCS

Here are some projects I finished using the Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This kit was from July. It was chock full of Graphic 45 Fashionista paper and Prima goodies everywhere. The more I play with Graphic 45 papers, the more I really like them. Enjoy the projects below.

These are 2 of my best buds and frankly I think this paper line was made just for them. If you like using your papers as die cuts, you will enjoy Graphic 45. They have a lot of full page, big designs that allow you to pick and choose what you like, such as my 11" lady in red and the grouping of ladies in the bottom left.

You don't need too many extra embellishments with this paper as it works to create dimension for you.

And the second project. This is my husband and I on our wedding day. Our photographer decided to switch to black/white film for our departure and I'm so glad he did. We got these great vintage looking "old school Hollywood" type photos (hence the film reel).

I paper pieced the curtains at the top of the page. The key to realistic paper piecings is layers and lots of shading. Each swag is 3-4 pieces. I off-centered the design on the paper, in each swag piece, to give movement in the curtains.

Since I love multi-photo pages, if I can, I'll try to find little ways to add more photos. Below, I made little charm photos of other parts of our wedding day and added them into the film reel. The film reel is pieced and inked with Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) and finished off with Perfect Pearls (Pewter and Antique Gold).

I still have so much left in this kit, that I can probably get 2-3 more layouts from it. Time on the other hand, is something I can't seem to get more of...
